DORMA was founded on July 1st, 1908 as Dörken + Mankel KG in Ennepetal . The internationally operating Dorma Group was represented by 71 of its own companies in 49 countries.
On September 1, 2015, Dorma merged with the Swiss company Kaba to form dormakaba Holding AG . The holding is held 52.5 percent by Kaba Holding and 47.5 percent by the Dorma owner families Mankel and Brecht-Bergen.
Organization and business areas
Before the merger with Kaba , all global production sites and branches were under the management of the Ennepetal-based holding company . Dorma's business fields included door technology, automatic, glass fitting technology, security technology / time and access control and room partition systems. Production locations were Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, China and North and South America.

History of the company
- 1908: Foundation of Dörken + Mankel KG by Rudolf Mankel and his brother-in-law Wilhelm Dörken in Ennepetal
- 1927: Entry of the brand name Dorma
- 1950: Entry into the production of door closers (TS 50)
- 1962: Entry into the production of drives
- 1970: Karl-Rudolf Mankel took over the company - Dörken + Mankel KG became Dorma GmbH + Co. KG
- 1976: Entry into the area of glass door fittings - one year later the subsidiary Dorma-Glas is founded
- 1977: Foundation of the first foreign sales company - Dorma France
