Dacapo

Dacapo ( proper spelling: dacapo:) is the short version of the name of the Bremen cultural institution Dacapo non-profit concert company. The name refers to the musical term da capo .

The society led by Ingo Ahmels is dedicated to contemporary music. Since 1985, over 500 concerts , multimedia projects, scientific conferences, public art campaigns and courses have been carried out at various locations, including the Bremen Überseemuseum , the Kunsthalle Bremen , the Bremen Theater , the Institut Français de Brême and in the Blockland .

The concerts are intended to bring contemporary music to life. In addition to new western e-music , new jazz , improvised music and musical cultures and traditions from all over the world will be presented.

Dacapo was founded in 1985 as a concert association. It has been active in the legal form of a non-profit GmbH since 1992. With its events and projects supported by the cultural budget of the Bremen Senate, it was able to develop into an internationally known organization from 1986 to 2001. From 2002 Dacapo reorganized itself and it now consists of three areas:

  • professional music theater group: ensemble dacapo :,
  • volunteer-run archive and label area d'c records,
  • Concert series that has existed since 1985 and is currently pausing, which so far has given almost 2000 artists from all over the world appearances in concert, museum, gallery, recording studio, TV and theater contexts.
