The Dachshund Museum Kleine Residenz is a private museum about the dachshund at Residenzplatz in Passau, unique in Germany . It was founded by Josef Küblbeck and Oliver Storz, who live in a registered partnership , and opened on April 2, 2018.

More than 2000 dachshund exhibits, which the operators have collected over the course of more than 20 years, can be seen on 80 square meters. For example, it is about the dachshund as a hunting dog and family friend, as a symbol of Bavarian cosiness, as a toy, stuffed animal, Olympic mascot and as a Christmas decoration.

Originally the Kleine Residenz was a shop where Küblbeck and Storz sold “beautiful things for locals, newcomers and tourists”.

In the first year after opening, the Small Residence had 20,000 visitors.

criticism

The Passau monument conservator Egon Greipl described the planned exhibition as “ kitsch ” for tourists.
