Dadu District is an administrative district in Pakistan in Sindh Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Dadu .

The district has an area of ​​7,866 km² and according to the 2017 census 1,550,266 inhabitants. The population density is 197 inhabitants / km². The Sindhi language is spoken by the majority in the district .

location

The district is located in the west of the Sindh Province, which is located in the southeast of Pakistan. Dadu is located north of the mega city of Karachi and borders on Balochistan .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 1.79% annually. Around 25% of the population live in urban regions and around 75% in rural regions. 797,857 men, 752,385 women and 24 transgender people live in 286,810 households , resulting in a gender ratio of 106 men per 100 women, which is a common surplus for Pakistan.

The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population over 10 years of age was 66% (women: 54%, men: 77%) and thus above the average for the province of Sindh of 60%.
