Dagmar Yu-Dembski

Dagmar Yu-Dembski (* 1943 in Berlin ) is a German journalist and author of Chinese descent.

Life

Yu-Dembski was born in 1943 as the daughter of a German and a Chinese from southern China . Her parents separated when she was 13 years old. She completed studies in journalism , art history and sinology at the Free University of Berlin . Her research focus is on the role of women in the media. Yu-Dembski is the managing director of the Confucius Institute in Berlin. She was the editor of the magazine Das neue China, which was discontinued in 2014 . Yu-Dembski translated the book Shanghai Magic: Reports from the New Yorker by Emily Hahn from American English into German. She lives with her husband in Berlin.
