Dajae (actually Karen Gordon , * in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American R & B - and House - singer , singer-songwriter and record producer.

biography

Gordon sang in various soul bands for several years and released several unsuccessful singles under her real name before she appeared as Dajaé on the 1992 single Brighter Days , a feature with producer Cajmere . The song rose to number 2 on Billboard Dance Music / Club Play Singles in 1993 .

The two musicians also worked together in the following years, Cajmere u. a. Dajaé's 1993 single U Got Me Up (number 19 in the US dance charts) remixed her songs Is It All Over My Face (number 5 in the US dance charts) and Day by Day (number 1 in the US dance charts) in 1994 -Charts) and was involved as a songwriter and producer on the single Fakes & Phonies (number 22 in the US dance charts).

Dajaé had an international chart hit in 1997 as part of the B-Crew, which also included Barbara Tucker , Erick Morillo , Moné and Ultra Naté . The track Partay Feeling was at number 45 on the UK charts for a week and reached number 28 in the Dance Music / Club Play Singles. The B with U sung by Dajaé for Junior Sanchez rose to number 31 on the British charts in October 1999.

Two other small chart successes were Time with E-Smoove (2000) and What Do You Want? with full intention (2001). In the following years various solo singles and features appeared, but there was no longer a chart success.
