Elliott Lydell "Dale" Davis (born March 25, 1969 in Toccoa , Georgia ) is a retired American basketball player .
Davis played for the Indiana Pacers for the first nine years of his career . With these he had his most successful time at the end of the 90s, when they reached the NBA final in 2000, but were defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers 2-4. In the same year Davis was invited to the NBA All-Star Game . In 2000 he was transferred to the Portland Trail Blazers for Jermaine O'Neal . He left the Pacers as the best rebounder in team history. Davis lived in Portland for four years before being traded to the Golden State Warriors in 2004. In March 2005 he returned to the Pacers and started for the injured Jermaine O'Neal in all 25 games. Davis played for the Detroit Pistons for the last two years .
During his 17-year NBA career, Davis scored 8.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.
