Dalibor Bartulović (born June 27, 1980 in Vinkovci , SFR Yugoslavia ), known by the stage name Shorty , is a Croatian hip-hop artist. He released his 1.68 debut album in 2004, with the album's name alluding to his height. The most famous song on this album was the single Dođi u Vinkovce .

history

Dalibor Bartulović got his first experiences with hip-hop music through the hip-hop program The Black-Thing, which ran on the Slavonian radio VFM in the 1990s. Bartulović had his first appearances there and founded the B2 group with his friend towards the end of the 1990s , but this only lasted for a short time, as both had different ideas about the hip-hop style. However, after Edo Maajka had heard of the group's music, he invited Bartulović for guest appearances at his concerts and also made contact with the Aquarius Records label .

Under this label Shorty released his debut album 1.68 in 2004 . Two songs from this album, Zeka and Dođi u Vinkovce , became top ten hits on most of the country's radio stations. With the song Marija on his second album, he won the listener award at the 11th Croatian Radio Festival. His third album, Veličina nije bitna , was released by Croatia Records in summer 2009 .

Further information

Bartulović sometimes uses elements from Croatian or Slavonian folklore such as the tamburica in his songs . His songs are often co-productions with people known in Slavonian folklore circles such as Miroslav Stivić. There were other co-productions u. a. with Colonia , Edo Maajka , Ivana Kindl and Jacques Houdek.

Since Bartulović spent the war years in Vinkovci during the Croatian War , some of his songs address the trauma of the war as well as the consequences , for example in the songs Dođi u Vinkovce and Dok Dunav… . Bartulović also often writes humorous texts, some of which are directed against the turbo folk music genre .
