Edo Maajka (born December 22, 1978 in Brčko ; real name Edin Osmić ) is a Bosnian rapper .

biography

In 1992 Osmić fled to Croatia because of the Bosnian War , where he first lived in Privlaka (near Zadar ) and later, after finishing primary school, with his sister in Zagreb . After secondary school he moved back to Bosnia and began studying mechanical engineering and criminology.

After the first year of study, he dropped out and went to Zagreb. There he recorded his first demos, Minimalni Rizik (Minimal Risk) and Mahir & Alma .

Career

Edo Maajka already demonstrated his talent at the age of 21. The first rock group he performed with was called Diskord, but was later renamed Defense. The group had a number one hit in Bosnia with the single Odbrana 99 ( Defense 99 ). Then Edo got an offer from Disciplinska Komisija , a Bosnian rap group, to record his first album.

After he was invited to a freestyle by the Bosnian radio station Kameleon in Tuzla (broadcast: FMJAM ) , his career finally began. With the first album Slušaj Mater ( Listen to Your Mother ), which was released in 2002, Edo became known all over the Balkans. He was equally successful with his second album No Sikiriki ( No Worries ). In 2005 he won a Porin for his video clip Pržiii ( Brenn ).

His songs deal with topics such as social injustice, love, hatred, nationalism and war.

In Germany Edo Maajka became known with the track Bruderkrieg (with Slick One), which was published on Chronik 2 by the label Selfmade Records .

Edo Maajka is considered one of the best Balkan MCs . So far, he has worked with artists such as Frenkie , Hladno Pivo , Elemental , Bolesna Braća , Marchelo , Kultur Shock .
