Damián Enrique Lanza Moyano (born April 10, 1982 in Cuenca ) is an Ecuadorian football player ( goalkeeper ).
Career
society
Lanza was born in Cuenca when his father, the Argentine Enrique Lanza , played as a striker there. His mother, Antonia del Rosario Moyano, is also Argentinian. After Enrique Lanza's engagements in Ecuador ended in 1982, the family returned to Buenos Aires, where Damián grew up. He played in a youth team from Independiente , but without great prospects for a professional career. At the age of 19 he decided to go to Ecuador and was accepted into the U20 team of the first division club CS Emelec from Guayaquil. For the 2004 season he moved to Deportivo Cuenca as the third goalkeeper . In April 2004, he made his first division debut in an away game against Macará in Ambato after the first goalkeeper was suspended and the second was injured. Lanza saved a penalty in his first game. In his third game against league leaders Liga de Quito, he scored a goal with a break and saved a penalty in the last minute, securing his team's 1-0 victory.
He remained clean for the first 441 minutes of his career and caused a stir with his performances in Ecuador. In his first season he was Ecuadorian champion with Deportivo Cuenca, in the second year his team won the runner-up in the Clausura tournament in 2005. For the 2006 season Lanza moved to SD Aucas in the capital Quito. After the 2006 World Cup, he was eliminated from the squad there. Lanza, who also has an Italian passport, went to Europe to look for a club, from where he initially returned unsuccessfully and trained at El Nacional Quito and CD Olmedo Riobamba. On the verge of a move to Olmedo, he signed a contract with Italian second division club AC Arezzo in late January 2007 , for which he played two league games. Shortly after the start of the 2007/08 season, he was signed for a season by CFC Genoa as the third goalkeeper. Before the 2008/09 season he completed a trial training at Wisła Krakow , which did not lead to a contract. In 2009 he returned home and played as the third goalkeeper for CS Emelec . In the 2010 season he played 17 first division games for CD Olmedo (from Riobamba) before moving to FC Manta for the 2011 season. After the season he moved to Barcelona SC Guayaquil .
National team
Lanza has played five times for the Ecuadorian national team . He made his debut on July 13, 2004, three months after his first division debut, in a 2-1 win against Mexico at the Copa America 2004 in Peru, when he came on for Jacinto Espinoza in the second half . He was in Ecuador's squad at the 2006 World Cup , although he was the first goalkeeper at Aucas only two game days before the World Cup this season. However, he was not used in this tournament.
