The Dampier Highway , formerly also called Karratha-Dampier Road , is a connecting road in the northwest of the Australian state of Western Australia . It connects the city of Dampier to the North West Coastal Highway at Karratha .

The road was completed in the late 1960s as a link between the cities of Dampier and Karratha.

The road branches south of Karratha from the North West Coastal Highway (R1) to the north and runs through the center of Karratha. There she turns west and leaves the city again. It turns northwest and ends after 39 km in Dampier at the intersection of Central Avenue and Church Road .
