Dan Cole (born May 9, 1987 in Leicester ) is an English rugby union player . He plays as a pillar for the England national team , the British and Irish Lions and the Leicester Tigers .

childhood and education

Cole attended elementary school in Kibworth and later Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College in Leicester. At the local club South Leicester RFC he played as a winger .

Career

society

Cole was first used in the 2008/09 season for the Leicester Tigers. He had previously moved from South Leicester to the Tigers Academy. In its first season, the Tigers won the English championship . They were able to repeat this success in 2010 and 2013. In addition, Cole won the Anglo-Welsh Cup with Leicester (2012 and 2017) and in 2009 reached the final of the Heineken Cup , the highest European club competition.

National team

Cole made his debut for the England team in February 2010 against Wales . He made his first attempt in his third international match against Ireland . The following year he was part of the English squad for the 2011 World Cup . He was also on the squad in 2015 and 2019 . By the summer of 2013, when he was active for the Lions, he was used in 40 of the 41 international matches. He was substituted on in all three Lions games against Australia . He was also part of the British-Irish selection in 2017, but was not used in the test series against New Zealand . In 2016 he had previously won the Six Nations Grand Slam with England .
