Dan Duncan (born January 2, 1933 in Shelby County (Texas) , † March 28, 2010 in River Oaks , Houston ) was an American entrepreneur .

Life

Duncan co-founded the US company Enterprise Products in 1968 . For a long time he was the chairman of the board and its main shareholder. The company operates in the oil and gas industry. In 1968, Enterprise Products was founded with $ 10,000 in capital and two trucks to transport propane. In 2010 the company had 48,700 miles of onshore and offshore pipelines and was one of the largest pipeline operators in the United States. The company had storage capacity for nearly 220 million barrels of natural gas and liquefied natural gas.

Duncan was married and had four children. According to Forbes Magazine, Duncan was one of the richest Americans in 2005 and featured on The World's Billionaires . His net worth was last estimated at $ 9 billion by Forbes Magazine.

Duncans was a well known big game hunter. Duncan owned the Double D Ranch with large game species from Africa. Duncan was a member of the Safari Club International (SCI), a big game hunting club. He has received numerous awards for his trophies from the Safari Club International. In 2006 he received the SCI World Conservation Hunting Award , given to big game hunters who hunted big game on six continents. Duncan had 407 entries in the SCI trophy record book . He killed lions, elephants, rhinos and a polar bear, among others.
