Career

First approaches

Dan Pinto began his professional career in 1974 as a rock and roll drummer and shortly afterwards spread to various forms of drums and keyboards. Before his success as a composer, he worked as a drummer and learned to play the piano during that time. He taught himself to play all instruments, and depending on his financial situation, he borrowed the instruments, such as larger pianos, or bought them himself. He learned to play several types of keyboards. Because he devoted himself to different types of instruments, he was soon able to give his first concerts in which he used all instruments.

Music style and compositions

At first he set his musical direction on the progressive rock of the bands of the early 1970s, but the later founding of an orchestra played an even more decisive role for him as a songwriter. Even back then, he was very interested in making films, as he was an amateur filmmaker even as a child. Thanks to the establishment of his orchestra, he was allowed to work between the two musical styles. His music was used as background music for several television stations, such as CNN or film projects , for years . In 2006 one of his songs was nominated for Best Instrumental Song of the Year , thanks to his work as a New Age songwriter.

Collaboration with other artists

Four years after he started composing music, he wrote a song for the rock band Juice . In addition to his solo career, he also worked as a drummer for 3 Point Play . For the band WainWave Music he worked at times on the keyboard and in 1988 he presented a newly released record with Doug Wain.

Instruments

As a musician, Pinto covers two areas in his use of various instruments: The first area is that of the drummer, where he has now specialized in certain types of drums. Electrical instruments also fall into his area of use, which he particularly prefers when he works with both drums and keyboard.

further activities

In addition to his work as a musician and composer, Pinto has his own studio in which he produces all of his songs himself. In 2009 he reported in an interview how he wrote and produced a screenplay and also directed and edited a film. While the film, as Pinto said, was the result of an unofficial project, the music he released in 1999, four years later, is official. He worked regularly on projects like this one. He worked with Horace Ott , the writer of the song Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood , to create a film for the Memfest Film Festival in New Jersey in 2006 .

Musical influences

While Dan Pinto attributes his musical influences to various performers, Keith Emerson was a special influence for him. His music has also been compared with that of several bands, so his music is considered to be similar to that of the group Kansas , including Return to Forever . Other musicians who shaped him are John Williams , Danny Elfman , Chick Corea , Pat Metheny , Michel Camilo , Jean-Luc Ponty , Lyle Mays , Yes and the band Genesis .
