Daniel Šváby

Daniel Šváby (* 1951 ) is a Slovak lawyer and judge at the European Court of Justice .

Šváby studied law at the University of Bratislava , where he also obtained a Dr. iur. received his doctorate. He then entered the civil service and was initially a judge at the Bratislava District Court. He later moved to the civil court of appeal in Bratislava, where he soon rose to become vice-president. After working at the Ministry of Justice, he worked for a short time as a commercial judge at the Supreme Court of Slovakia. Later he was a member of the European Commission for Human Rights . From 2000 to 2004, Šváby was finally a judge at the Slovak Constitutional Court. In 2004 he switched to European jurisdiction and became a judge at the General Court of the European Union . Since October 7, 2009, Šváby has been a judge at the European Court of Justice .
