Daniel Barben

Daniel Barben (born June 10, 1961 in Zurich ) is a Swiss professor for technology and science research at the Institute for technology and science research at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt .

Life

Barben studied sociology , psychology , political science and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin from 1982 to 1989 . In 1995 he did his doctorate at the Economics and Social Science Faculty of the University of Potsdam and completed his habilitation in 2004 at the Political and Social Science Faculty of the Free University of Berlin. From April 2010 to December 2013 he held the first German professorship for futurology at the Institute for Political Science at RWTH Aachen University. In 2012 Barben was appointed to the Bioeconomy Council (BÖR).

Barben has been a professor at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt since January 2014. His research areas are interdependencies between processes of scientific-technical and social changes in relation to global problems in the areas of health, nutrition, energy, mobility, demographic change and climate change.
