Daniel Hess (composer)

Daniel Hess (born August 20, 1965 in Zurich ) is a Swiss composer .

Life

Daniel Hess was born in Zurich in 1965. He studied viola at the music academies in Zurich, Lucerne and Jerusalem. This was followed by studies in composition at the Lucerne School of Music with Caspar Diethelm and further studies with Rudolf Kelterborn and Josef Haselbach.

With his 1st string quartet, he won 1st prize at the composition competition in Reinach BL in 1986 . 1991 First performance of the 1st symphony. Composition commissions and concerts in Switzerland, Ukraine, Germany and Israel. In 2004 his 4th symphony "Hero and Leander" was premiered. It is a commission for the Elbe-Weser International Youth Symphony Orchestra in Germany.

Daniel Hess lives with his family in Winterthur .
