Hugo Bollschweiler (born October 25, 1970 in Zurich ) is a Swiss conductor , violist , composer , lyricist, poet and librettist .

education

Hugo Bollschweiler studied at the Conservatoire de Friborg , the Music Academy of the City of Basel , the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (USA) and the Zurich University of the Arts with Michel Rouilly , Christoph Schiller , Victoria Chiang and Roberto Diaz (viola) and Johannes Schlaefli, Christof Brunner, Marc Kissóczy and Markhand Thakar (conducting).

Act

Appearances at Mostly Mozart, Tanglewood, Lucerne, Donaueschingen, Davos, Montreux, Murten, Kuhmo, Les Arcs, Boswil and Yellow Barn Festivals.

From 2007 to 2009 artist-in-residence and professor of viola and chamber music at Northern Kentucky University (USA) and artistic director of the Norse Chamber Music Festival.

Lecturer at the College-Conservatory of Music Cincinnati Accent09 Festival, Norse Chamber Music Festival and Austin Chamber Music Festival and Workshop and master class at the Escola de Musica do Estado de Sao Paulo. Former solo violist of the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, the Orchester Philharmonique Suisse, the Young Swiss Chamber Orchestra, the Orchester de Chambre de Friborg, the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, the SJSO, the Capriccio Basel and the Orchester de Chambre de Neuchâtel.

Artistic director and conductor of the Schlieren City Orchestra, the Affoltern am Albis Orchestra Society, the Niederamt Orchestra Association, the Chur Orchestra Association and the Aargau Youth Symphony Orchestra .

Member of Galatea Quartet (CH), chamber music partner of Donald Weilerstein, Marc Johnson (Vermeer Quartet), Michael Strauss, Nicholas Mann, Katherine Murdock, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, Randolph Bowman, Kurt Widmer , the Sarastro Quartet, Jupiter String Quartet, Basler Streichquartett and Peabody Trio. Guest artist and US tours with the Colorado, Coolidge and Azmari String Quartets (USA). Member of the Camerata Zurich and the Chamber Aartists Orchestra (CHAARTS).

Recordings and tours with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, Zurich Opera Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra , Collegium Novum Zurich and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. Co-founder of the Capriccio Basel baroque orchestra.

Performances as a soloist with the Swiss Chamber Orchestra, the Orchester de Chambre de Neuchâtel, the Winterthur Symphony, the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra, Capriccio Basel, the Peabody Ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra 65, the orchestra of the Winterthur Zurich University of Music and the Zurich Orchestra Association.

World premieres of solo works by Bettina Skrzypczak , Daniel Hess and Rolf Urs Ringger . World premiere of Ringger's Concerto for Viola and Chamber Orchestra Love is in the air (2007).

Compositions for orchestra, strings and wind instruments have been released on CD by VDE-Gallo, film programming and solo improvisations for short film soundtracks.
