Marc Kissóczy

Marc Kissóczy (born July 5, 1961 in Montreal , Canada ) is a Swiss conductor .

Life

He was born to Swiss-Hungarian parents and studied violin in Zurich , Basel and Bern , where he obtained his concert diploma with distinction, as well as orchestral conducting. He continued his conducting studies at the Pierre Monteux School in the USA and completed his training as an orchestral conductor at the Tanglewood Music Center with musical personalities such as Gustav Meier, Oliver Knussen , Maurice Abravanel , Sergiu Celibidache and Pierre Boulez .

During his studies, Marc Kissóczy was awarded numerous prizes, including a. from the Swiss Tonkünstlerverein and the City of Zurich. He won other prizes in national and international competitions, including the renowned “Ernest Ansermet” (CIEM, today Concours de Genève ) competition in Geneva, where he later returned as a jury member and jury president.

Act

The orchestras he conducts include all the major symphony orchestras in Switzerland and others. a. the Orquestra National de Lyon, the Orquestra Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Ensemble intercontemporain Paris, the Orquestra Municipal do Sao Paulo, the Orquestra Nacional do Porto, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic, the Orquestra Ciudad de Málaga, the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra and many other international orchestras.

In addition to his international symphonic concert activities, Marc Kissóczy has made a name for himself as a conductor of operas and operettas, New Year's concerts, children's concerts, film soundtracks and advanced contemporary music. He conducted numerous world premieres and made them accessible to an interested and broad audience. The recordings and concerts with him as conductor are broadcast by radio and television companies in Europe, Asia and South America. Marc Kissóczy works regularly with all major orchestras in Switzerland as well as numerous symphony orchestras around the world.

In recognition of his services to music and the revival of the musical life in Vietnam , he was awarded the highest cultural medal of the state of Vietnam in the same year.

From 2002 to 2009 Marc Kissóczy was chief conductor of the Camerata Zurich , in 2005 he was appointed professor of conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).
