Daniel Johannes Köppel (born May 14, 2000 in Wolfsberg ) is an Austrian basketball player .

career

 Köppel, who comes from Wolfsberg  in Carinthia , played in the youth team of BBC Wolfsberg before joining the offspring of Bundesliga club Kapfenberg Bulls . In the course of the 2016/17 season he was also used in six Bundesliga games.

For the 2017/18 season, Köppel went to Germany to continue his development in the youth department of the second division club Nürnberg Falcons BC . After a year in Nuremberg, he switched to the Brose Bamberg youth development system and was also included in the FC Baunach squad ( 2nd Bundesliga ProA ). He was used in nine ProA games in the 2018/19 season and scored an average of 1.8 points per game, but missed relegation with the Baunach.

National team

Köppel took part in the B-EM in 2015 and 2016 with the Austrian U16 national team. In the 2016 tournament in particular, the inside player triumphed and scored an average of 11.4 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocked throws per encounter.

In the summer of 2017 he played with the U18 national team at the European B Championships in Estonia . In the summer of 2018, Köppel competed with the Austrian selection at the B-U18-EM in Skopje and was the third-best scorer with an average of 12.3 per match and the best rebounder of the team with 7.6 rebounds per game, in the 24 participating countries took 16th place.
