Daniel Lienau (born November 11, 1739 in Uetersen ; † June 5, 1816 in Hamburg ) was a Hamburg senator and mayor .

Life

Daniel Lienau was one of six brothers who had settled in Hanover, Hamburg and Holstein. On November 20, 1770, he married Catharina, daughter of Senator Johann Joachim Boetefeur and had eleven children, including three pairs of twins. On February 9, 1781 Daniel Lienau was appointed senator. Until 1788, he was the oldest court Lord of the City of Hamburg and was the reigning executioner as it emerges executioner penny presented. In 1788 Lienau became a bailiff in Ritzebüttel. From April 20, 1798 to February 13, 1811 and from March 18, 1813 to his death (June 5, 1816) he was mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. He was succeeded by Peter Hinrich Widow (August 29, 1800 - October 16, 1802).

He was a Freemason in Hamburg, first with the Absalom Lodge for the Three Nettle and then with the Ferdinande Caroline Lodge for the Three Stars .
