Peter Hinrich Widow

Peter Hinrich Widow (born August 3, 1736 in Hamburg , † October 16, 1802 ibid) was a German lawyer , councilor , bailiff in Ritzebüttel and mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Life

After completing his education at the Johanneum Scholars' School and the Academic Gymnasium , Widow studied law at the University of Göttingen and received his doctorate there on November 23, 1761, with a degree in both rights. After completing his studies, he went to Wetzlar and returned to Hamburg in 1763 after long journeys.

In 1764 Widow was elected judge at the lower court , 1766 at the district court and on August 14, 1767 councilor. From 1772 to 1778 he was bailiff in Ritzebüttel. In 1790 he became a protosolarch . Widow was elected mayor on August 29, 1800, but died on October 16, 1802 at the age of 66. A mayor's penny was minted on his death .

family

Widow was a son of the Hamburg mayor Conrad Widow (1686–1754) from his second marriage to Anna Gertrud de Hertoghe (1709–1736). On June 6, 1769 he married Henriette Martens (1747-1827). His daughter Henriette Charlotte Widow (1770–1807) married the businessman Caspar Zeller (1756–1823) in 1798 . His son Peter August Widow (1771-1821) was council secretary and councilor.
