Daniel Manz (born September 12, 1987 in Kempten ) is a German Taekwondoin . He is a seven-time German champion and has been a member of the German national team since 2002.

Career

Manz started Taekwondo in 1994 at the age of seven. The first association was the Taekwondo Community Allgäu . Since 2000 Daniel Manz was one of the first athletes at the Friedrichshafen Taekwondo boarding school under the direction of Markus Kohlöffel .

In 2002 he made the leap to the German junior national team. He celebrated his first successes with five German junior championships (2003 to 2007). On an international level with two second places at the 2003 European Youth Championship and the 2004 World Youth Championship, Daniel Manz is not only the most successful youth athlete at BSV Friedrichshafen , but also the most successful youth Taekwondo fighter in Germany. His sister Jennifer Manz is also a successful Taekwondo athlete and has also been a member of the BSV Friedrichshafen competition team since 2003. In 2006 he won his first German men's championship title and was CISM military world champion in South Korea in the same year. In 2007 Manz also secured the German championship title. On April 18, 2009 he married Sümeyye Manz , who is also a Taekwondo athlete. The couple has three children.

After he had fought for a starting place in Istanbul for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in January 2008 , a second place followed at the military world championships and a third place at the European championships held in Rome. Manz achieved fifth place at the Olympic competitions .

Daniel Manz is currently a sports soldier with the rank of sergeant in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Sonthofen . He is also a member of the German Federal Squad (DTU) and the TUBW Regional Squad.

  • On January 31, 2009 in Ingolstadt in the Saturn Arena in Ingolstadt, Daniel was awarded the 3rd Honorary Dan by the DTU Presidium due to his special service to the German Taekwondo Union.
