Markus Kohlöffel (born January 25, 1971 in Friedrichshafen ) is a German Taekwondo athlete. He has been the head coach of the Swedish national team since 2009 .

Life

After completing his Abitur at Graf-Zeppelin Gymnasium in Friedrichshafen, Markus Kohlöffel did his basic military service in Fernspähkompanie 200 in Weingarten, studied chemistry and sports for teaching at the University of Konstanz , and attended a driving instructor training course in Class 3 or B at the Traffic Education Academy in Kirchheim / Teck as well as class 1 or A at the German Transport Pedagogical Institute in Schorndorf-Urbach, completed a combined course to become a qualified trainer at the Cologne Trainer Academy of the German Olympic Sports Confederation and a degree in sports science with a focus on biomechanics at the University of Konstanz.

In his youth he was a passionate musician. He plays several instruments a. a. electronic organ, saxophone and drums. From 1991 to 1996 he directed the youth band of the Fischbach music band and conducted the Fischbach band from 1992 to 2000.

He has been involved in taekwondo sport since 1986 and has headed the Taekwondo department of the Bodensee-Schulsport-Verein (BSV) Friedrichshafen since 1991 . In 2001 he founded the first Taekwondo boarding school in Germany. He is the director of the Taekwondo Competence Center Friedrichshafen (TCC Friedrichshafen) and head of the Regional Top Sports Center (RSZ) Friedrichshafen. He is state trainer in Baden-Württemberg (TUBW). He holds an 8th Dan in Taekwondo.

Since 2000 he has been a member of the national coaching staff of the German Taekwondo Union (DTU) and was the trainer for the junior junior European champions (2003) and junior world championships (2004, fourth place). In 2005 he became national coach for the women's team and was vice European champion (2006) and European champion (2008). He was team leader Taekwondo Germany at the Olympic Summer Games 2008 and achieved the best result so far for Taekwondo Germany. Markus Kohlöffel was involved in the management of the German Taekwondo Union at the 2003 World Championships and Secretary General in 2001 at the Poomse European Championships, 2004 at the Military World Championships and 2006 at the European Championships.

Since 2009 he has been the head coach of the Swedish Taekwondo Association (Svenska Taekwondoförbundet) and was the team leader at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . He was appointed to the coach committee of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) in 2014 - as the first German trainer ever. In 2015 he was appointed to the sports science committee of the European Taekwondo Union (ETU) .

He holds a teaching position for Taekwondo at the Faculty of History and Sociology in Sports Science at the University of Konstanz . Together with the University of Konstanz, he is committed to founding an institute for high-performance sports and movement diagnostics at the TCC Friedrichshafen.
