Daniel Oetzel (born March 5, 1988 ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 2013 to 2016 he was chairman of the Junge Liberalen Hamburg . From March 2015 to February 2020, Oetzel was a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Oetzel has lived in Hamburg- Blankenese since 2008 and is studying the Master of Education (teaching position) at the University of Hamburg with the subjects history and biology. From 2010 to 2012 and from 2013 to 2014 he was a member of the AStA at the University of Hamburg. He has been a member of the FDP since 2011. He attracted attention in 2014 when he publicly advocated the legalization of cannabis . In the 2015 citizenship election , Oetzel ran for position 9 on the state list, but was only able to move into the citizenship as a replacement for Heico Fuhrmann, who did not accept the mandate for professional reasons. He was a spokesman for science, sport, family, children and youth and a member of the study commission "Child protection and children's rights strengthening". Oetzel was also a member of the G20 special committee. Since autumn 2017, Oetzel has also been chairman of the Committee on Science and Equality. On May 14, 2018, Daniel Oetzel was elected parliamentary managing director and deputy group chairman.

After the FDP failed to meet the five percent threshold in the 2020 citizenship election , the parliamentary group disbanded and Oetzel left the citizenship.
