Daniel Pedoe

Daniel Pedoe (* 1910 in London ; † 1998 ) was a British mathematician and geometer with Polish roots.

Pedoe studied at Magdalene College of Cambridge University (for Frank P. Ramsey ). In 1935 he was studying with Solomon Lefschetz at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey . In 1937 he received his PhD from Cambridge.

He is known as the author of specialist articles and books in the field of geometry and for his collaboration with William Vallance Douglas Hodge with whom he wrote the 3-volume work Methods of Algebraic Geometry . Together with Hidetoshi Fukagawa he wrote the book Japanese Temple Geometry Problems: San Gaku .

In 1962 he gave a lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Stockholm ( A fundamental theorem in projective geometry ).
