biography

Hip hop

Daniel Reitzig grew up in East Berlin. After graduating from high school, he published hip-hop tracks under the stage name Schattenmann together with artists such as Gauner and Dra-Q . In 1999 he produced the rapper Pyranja's first demo tape, which finally won her a record deal with Def Jam Records Germany. His role in the development of hip-hop culture in East Berlin brought Reitzig an entry in the hip-hop lexicon under the pseudonym Schattenmann. Several Berlin rappers, DJs and producers founded a 14-person crew or artist pool called Pflegerlounge around 1999/2000, which consisted of Yaneq , Pyranja, Krisenstab and Sera Finale . Together with Till Hastreiter and the members of the care lounge, the movie Status Yo! , in which Reitzig appears in a supporting role. He can also be heard on the soundtrack as part of the nurse's lounge.

politics

After the 2017 federal election , Daniel Reitzig joined the SPD. Together with Steve Hudson and others, he founded the Nogroko eV association in January 2018. The goal of the association was to prevent another Groko between the CDU , CSU and SPD . After the majority of the SPD members had decided in favor of a renewed GroKo, the association demanded a primary election to determine the party chairmanship in March 2018 . They were supported by members of the Bundestag Hilde Mattheis and Marco Bülow as well as the Mayor of Flensburg, Simone Lange . The advance failed mainly because of the resistance of the SPD leadership at the time. In 2019, a member survey on party leadership was finally carried out, from which Saskia Esken and Norbert Walter-Borjans emerged victorious. In January 2018 Reitzig was elected to the board of the SPD Berlin-Weißensee, to which he belonged until his departure in January 2020.

In July 2018 Daniel Reitzig was one of the informal co-founders of the collection movement Stand Up . He worked intensively with the politicians Simone Lange , Marco Bülow and Fabio De Masi . Due to differences in content, particularly on issues of migration policy and organizational policy, Reitzig left the collection movement together with Marco Bülow, Antje Vollmer and Ludger Volmer in March 2019.

In August 2020 Reitzig positioned himself against the nomination of Olaf Scholz as candidate for chancellor of the SPD. He considers Scholz "to be the embodiment of what has gone wrong in the SPD in the last 15 years: neoliberal politics and opportunism," he told the daily newspaper taz . Furthermore, there is a risk that the party rights of the SPD could regain supremacy in the party, so Reitzig.
