Daniel Scheil

Daniel Scheil (born January 13, 1973 in Freiberg ) is a German disabled athlete .

Career

Daniel Scheil is severely disabled and suffers from spastic tetraparesis and myopathy . At the BSV Weiden he practices athletics in the disciplines shot put , discus throwing and javelin throwing . He is a member of the German National Disabled Sports Team, his first international competition was the 2014 European Championships, where he won a gold medal in discus and javelin throw and also a bronze medal in shot put. He was also successful at the European Championships in 2016: He won a silver medal in the discus throw and in the shot put.

After these successes, he was also used at the 2015 and 2017 World Championships. Here, too, he was among the medalists: in 2015 he won a bronze medal in the shot put and was ninth in the discus throw; In 2017 he won the shot put competition.

He reached a high point of his sporting success at the 2016 Paralympic Summer Games when he won the gold medal in the shot put in his performance group.

For winning the gold medal in the shot put at the 2016 Paralympic Summer Games, he was awarded the silver laurel leaf by Federal President Joachim Gauck on November 1, 2016 .
