Daniel Strigel

Daniel Strigel (born February 13, 1975 in Mannheim ) is a former German fencer and German master who belonged to the world class with his sword .

Life

Second in the German championship in 2000 , Daniel Strigel was a substitute fencer at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and played against Belarus; the German team finished fifth. In 2001 he reached second place with the team at the European Championships , at the 2001 World Championships he finished sixth in both the individual and the team. In 2002 Strigel was fifth with the team at the World Cup . In 2003 he won the German individual championship with the sword .

After a cruciate ligament rupture in 2003, Strigel only qualified for the Olympic Games in 2004. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he took eighth place in the individual, and together with Sven Schmid and Jörg Fiedler he won the bronze medal in the team competition.

For this, he and his teammates received the silver bay leaf.

In 2005 the three fencers together with Martin Schmitt took second place at the world championships .

Daniel Strigel fought for FC Tauberbischofsheim , he was active spokesman for the German Fencing Federation. In 2006 he was elected head of the Tauberbischofsheim Olympic Training Center . In 2010 he moved to the Rhine-Neckar Olympic base.
