Daniel Yuste Escolar (born November 17, 1944 in Leganés , Madrid ; † March 26, 2020 there ) was a Spanish cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1966 Daniel Yuste won the national race Vuelta a Segovia , in 1968 he finished fourth in the Spanish amateur road championship. He was the only Spanish cyclist to take part in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City . He started in the single pursuit and finished 13th. In 1969 he was national champion in the single pursuit and together with José Gómez Lucas in two-man team driving . In the same year, Yuste set a Spanish record over five kilometers on the track with 6: 10.64 minutes .

In 1969 Yuste turned professional. In the same year he finished 16th in the Tour of Andalusia . In 1970 he ended his cycling career.

Daniel Yuste died in March 2020 at the age of 75 during the COVID-19 pandemic of the consequences of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
