Danielle Steel
Danielle Steel (actually Danielle Fernandes Schuelein-Steel ; born August 14, 1947 in New York City ) is an American writer .
life and work
She is the daughter of a Jewish-German father and a Portuguese mother, grew up as an only child in France and attended various European schools. In New York she graduated from a French-speaking high school in 1963; then she studied at New York University (graduation 1967).
Her first novel (“Farewell to St. Petersburg”) in 1977 was a success and brought her international recognition and breakthrough. Since then, she has written more than sixty novels, all of which have made it to the top of bestseller lists. With more than 530 million books sold, Danielle Steel is one of the world's most successful women writers in terms of sales.
Danielle Steel, married five times, has nine children and lives in San Francisco . She wrote a biography for her son Nick Traina . Traina, a talented musician, suffered from bipolar disorder and died on September 20, 1997. He was a member of Link 80 .
