Danny Wilson (band)
Danny Wilson was a British pop band that had their biggest hit with the 1987 single Mary’s Prayer .
biography
The group was founded in 1985 in Dundee and consisted of the two brothers Gary and Kit Clark and Ged Grimes. The name of the band comes from the feature film Meet Danny Wilson (German title: To everything resolved ) with Frank Sinatra in the leading role.
The single Mary's Prayer was Danny Wilson's first and biggest chart hit. The song rose to the UK and US charts in the summer of 1987 , reaching mid-level placements. It wasn't until 1988, after returning to the British charts, that the single climbed to number three. A short time later, in June 1988, Mary's Prayer was also placed in Germany and reached number 35. The album Meet Danny Wilson , which went with it, was only in the back of the list in the UK and the US .
Danny Wilson had another chart success with The Second Summer of Love . The single first entered the British charts in June 1989 and climbed to number 23, followed a quarter of a year later to number 52 in the German charts. The album Bebop Moptop rose to number 24 in England at the same time. The release Never Gonna Be the Same is the band's last single to hit the charts. The song had to be content with number 69 in the UK charts.
Due to a lack of success, the band broke up in 1990. The best-of album Sweet Danny Wilson was again a small chart success in England in 1991.
After the split, Gary Clark started a solo career with moderate success. In the late 1990s, he reunited with Ged Grimes to write and produce tracks for Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia . Kit Clark founded the band The Mudskippers after the split.
