history
After the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, the former French officer Louis Danzas (originally d'Anzas) joined the company of Michel L'Evêque-Moll in Bourglibre, Alsace near Basel, which was active in the field of customs services.
The company was soon also active in the shipping industry and as an agency for shipping companies. After the Franco-German War , the company relocated its headquarters to Switzerland and became known worldwide as a Swiss logistics company . In 1878 it changed to Danzas & Cie. and on January 1, 1903 into a stock corporation. Since then, many branches have been set up in France, Italy and Germany.
In Germany, Danzas had been present with a dispatch and re- expedition center in Ludwigshafen since 1901 . 1919 was Danzas GmbH based in the allied occupied Mainz founded. This was relocated to Mannheim only a year later and to Frankfurt am Main in 1949 . In 1965 there were 30 branches and agencies in Germany.
In 1999, Deutsche Post acquired the majority of shares in the listed Danzas Holding . It was taken over by the postal group under the Deutsche Post World Net brand .
As part of a re-branding, the three brands DHL , Deutsche Post EuroExpress and Danzas were merged into one global brand DHL . Until January 2006, the Danzas brand was mainly used by the air and ocean freight division of the group in the combination DHL Danzas Air & Ocean , which was finally renamed DHL Global Forwarding .
After the renaming of DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, the historical brand Danzas was only used by a few specialized units of the postal group: Danzas Messen GmbH and Danzas Lebensmittelverkehr GmbH . In the meantime, these units have also been converted into DHL Trade Fairs & Events (TFE) and DHL FoodServices .
