Gdańsk Seniors' Convention

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SC zu Danzig was the senior citizens' convention of the Weinheimer Corps at the Technical University of Danzig . It only existed for 31 years, but was the only one in West Prussia and in the Free City of Danzig .

history

TH Danzig was founded in 1904. After three Hanoverian Saxons donated the Corps Saxonia Danzig on October 18 and four Karlsruhe Frisians reconstituted the old Karlsruhe Landsmannschaft Baltica as Corps Baltica Danzig on May 2, 1905 , Saxonia and Baltica met on May 4, 1905 to form the SC zu Danzig.

Borussia

Borussia was accepted into the SC on October 30, 1906. After the Kaiserkommers of 1910 in the German House, insulted by a member of the Cimbria gymnastics club, she did not send a bang- list for a PP suite , as would have been a matter of course according to the SC comment . Therefore discredited on June 16, 1910 , she had to suspend on June 25, 1910 . It could only be reconstituted after the First World War .

Saxonia

The SC experienced the second setback when Saxonia was suspended from the university for one year on April 2, 1912. The reason for this was that an active Saxon had sent a fellow student , who had insulted him in a letter, a serious saber demand and attacked him before the court of honor met. The incident received wide coverage in the Gdansk press in the following weeks. Saxonia could not recover from this event, remained suspended and merged with its mother corps Saxonia Hannover on February 27, 1922. According to Weinheimer understanding, Saxonia's suspension made the SC cease to exist.

Baltica

Baltica was the only corps in Danzig until the war-related suspension at the beginning of the winter semester 1914/15. It was the first corps to be reconstituted after the First World War on May 31, 1919. After Borussia's reconstitution on January 16, 1922, both corps were able to meet again to form one SC.

Cheruscia

On July 17, 1925, three WSC members founded the Corps Cheruscia, which took in the former members of the Rothenburg Association . The SC now consisted of three corps again. Under pressure from the DC circuit in the era of National Socialism suspended Cheruskia late October / early November 1935 Borussia on 27 October 1935, and Baltica on November 2 1935th

Baltica-Borussia

Baltica and Borussia merged on May 23, 1952 to form Corps Baltica-Borussia, which was reconstituted in Hanover on September 12, 1952 . Cheruskia went up in 1938 through the merging of the old rulers in the Corps Cheruskia Karlsruhe .
