Dare Foods Ltd. is a Canadian food company headquartered in Kitchener , Ontario , Canada . The company produces and sells various foods across North America and exports them to a further 25 countries. It has seven manufacturing sites in Canada and the United States .

history

In 1892, Charles H. Doerr began making and selling his own baked goods in a Kitchener store . In 1919 he founded the CH Doerr Company, which sold its goods within Ontario. In 1954, the company introduced the first resealable packaging bags, so the baked goods could last longer. In 1956 the company began expanding into the USA. In 1983 the company introduced new products. In 1989 the company opened a new manufacturing facility in Milton . Due to strong demand and expansion in the USA, the company opened a new production site in South Carolina in 1994 . In 1999 Dare Foods took over the US company Bremner Biscuit Company of Denver, Colorado . In 2003, the company introduced nut-free products for consumers with nut allergies.
