Jonathas , whose full name is Jonathas Cristian de Jesus Maurício (born March 6, 1989 in Betim ), is a Brazilian football player who is under contract in Spain with FC Elche .
Career
societies
Jonathas, who learned to play football at his youth club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte , dared the leap to Europe in 2009 at the age of 20 to the Dutch first division club AZ Alkmaar , for whom he played for two years and was initially used in the second team. His breakthrough came at his next club, the Italian second division side Brescia Calcio , for whom he drew attention to himself with 16 goals this season in the 2011/12 season . As the eighth top scorer in the league, he was then obliged by second division champions Pescara Calcio . For this he scored his first goal in Serie A in the 2012/13 season . In January 2013 he was loaned to Torino FC . At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he played for two years for the Spanish first division club FC Elche , where he was able to establish himself as a successful striker.
In July 2015, he moved to Real Sociedad , where he received a five-year contract. However, the following summer he moved to Rubin Kazan .
For the 2017/18 season he moved to Hannover 96 for a transfer number of nine million euros ; this was the most expensive player engagement in Hanover's transfer history to date. Jonathas received a contract valid until June 30, 2020. On his debut on August 27, 2017 (2nd matchday), he not only scored his first goal in the home game against FC Schalke 04, but also the 1-0 winner in the 67th minute - five minutes after being substituted for Niclas Füllkrug . Due to various injuries, he played only twelve point games in which he scored three goals.
On June 29, 2018, he returned to his home country for family reasons and initially joined Corinthians São Paulo for a year on loan . There he made seven appearances by the end of the 2018 season , in which he scored one goal. During the winter transfer period of the 2018/19 season , he returned prematurely to Lower Saxony, which was threatened with relegation. After relegation, Jonathas' contract was terminated amicably after the 5th game day and only one further second division game at Hannover 96.
At the beginning of February 2020, after several months without a club, the Brazilian received a contract with the Spanish second division club FC Elche, for which he had already played from 2014 to 2015.
National team
Jonathas was part of the Brazilian U19 national team that took part in the 2008 Sendai Cup tournament . In three games he scored three goals.
