In the war chariot the brothers storm against the Greeks and Phegeus is the first to throw his lance at Diomedes , the son of Tydeus , but misses him. Des Diomedes lance, however, hits its target: hit in the chest, Phegeus falls dead from the car. Idaios then flees with the help of Hephaestus, who does not want to see both sons of his aged priest, a rich and irreproachable man, taken.
