The Darnell Nunatak is a prominent nunatak of 1405 m height in the Australian Antarctic Territory . It rises 6.5 km northwest of Mount Rummage in the southwest part of the Britannia Range .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1965 after the aircraft machinist's assistant Shepard L. Darnell, a member of the United States Navy's VX-6 squadron , who exchanged the aircraft between December 27, 1962 and January 4, 1963 together with six other mechanics Engine of a helicopter that crashed on the Emmanuel Glacier .
