Darrell Mickens

Darrell Dwain Mickens (born May 15, 1968 ) is a former American - German basketball player. The 1.96 meter tall winger played eleven games in the Bundesliga .

career

Mickens played from 1987 to 1991 at the University of Houston in the NCAA and achieved a points average of 6.9 per game in 92 appearances. In the 1990/91 season he served as team captain.

After his university days, Mickens became a professional basketball player and was initially employed in Colombia . In the 1992/93 game year, he moved to the German second division club 1. FC Baunach . Until 1995 he was in the service of the Upper Franconia. Then Mickens strengthened the SpVgg Rattelsdorf, in the 1997/98 season he shone with an average of 24.2 per match as the best scorer in the 1st Regionalliga South-East. In 1999 he was signed by the Bundesliga club Bamberg , but initially had to fight with a knee injury, so that he did not play a Bundesliga game in the 1999/2000 season. 2000/01 he was active in eleven games in Germany's highest class and scored an average of 5.3 points, but moved back to Rattelsdorf during the season.

In 2002 he continued his career with the Spanish third division club Rayet Guadalajara and then strengthened TSV Crailsheim in the 2nd Bundesliga from 2003 to 2005 , but missed much of the 2004/05 season due to an injury. In the early stages of the 2005/06 season Mickens was under contract with the second division club TB Weiden, but left the club in January 2006 for Sweden, where he ran for the Norrköping Dolphins before ending his career in the summer of 2006.

Mickens returned to his native Texas and worked as a high school basketball coach.
