Norrköping Dolphins is a Swedish basketball club from Norrköping .

history

The association was founded in 1963 as Hageby Basket . In 1980 Hageby became Swedish champion.

Meanwhile renamed Norrköpping Dolphins, the second championship was won in 1998. After that, they regularly finished in the top four in the regular season, but did not make it to the final in the play-offs. In the 2003/04 season, the team improved and only failed in the final on LF Basket Norrbotten , a team against which they had other close duels. After a few mixed years, the Dolphins returned the favor in 2010 against Norrbotten and won their third championship title.

Also in 2010, the Dolphins were the only non- Baltic club to win the Challenge Cup of the Baltic Basketball League . The first leg of the final, in which KK Prienai from Lithuania was opponent, lost 77:87. The team secured the title with a high 107-72 win in the second leg.

After this most successful year in the club's history, they also reached the final for the Swedish championship in 2011. This time the team was defeated by the Sundsvall Dragons . In the 2011/12 season, the Dolphins were the dominant team in the main round, reached the final in the play-offs and won the final series against Södertälje Kings 4-2.

In the recent past, the club took part regularly in the EuroChallenge . In the 2010/11 and 2012/13 seasons they were among the best 16 clubs.
