The song of the lonely girl is a song by the German composer Werner Richard Heymann based on a text by Robert Gilbert from 1952.

The piece was sung for the film Alraune by Hildegard Knef and appeared in December 1952 for the first time as a single and on shellac with Polydor . However, the piece, like the film, was unsuccessful.

In 1984 the piece was recorded by the German singer Nico for her album Camera Obscura . Partly motivated by this interpretation, the piece was then re-sung by numerous modern artists, e. B. Martin Gore , The Princes and Alexander Veljanov .
