The Magdalena Gospel (original title: The Expected One ) is the title of a novel by the American author Kathleen McGowan from the thriller genre .

The original edition and the German edition appeared in 2006.

The focus of the novel is the American journalist Maureen Paschal . She wrote a successful book about successful women and came across the story of Maria Magdalena . Her research leads her to Israel, where she has a vision. Since then she has been awakened again and again by mysterious, visionary dreams.

Then a Scottish aristocrat appears, showered her with flowers and invited her to France, to the village of Rennes-le-Château in Languedoc . There Maureen learns amazing things about Mary Magdalene and her legendary legacy. This legacy, a document from Mary Magdalene about the time when Isa (Jesus), her husband, spread the doctrine of the “right way”, is said to be found in the wasteland of Languedoc. Maureen is believed by many to be the Promised One this document can hold.

  • Kathleen McGowan has made the main character of her book her protagonist . She writes in the epilogue that she included many facts, some theories and, above all, a lot of experiences from her own life.
