The preparation is a music project by the musician, singer and producer Matthias Bornemann alias Dr. Hyde.

history

At the beginning of 2001 Bornemann began to present his music as a one-man project under the pseudonym The Preparation. In 2003, Hannes “Honey” met Malecki from Welle: Erdball as Dr. Georg Linde as keyboard player and another singer. In 2004 Das Preparat became a three-piece band with Night Nurse K. With the jointly produced Maxi Dance with Your Emotion , they achieved a club hit that entered the German Alternative Charts. With the publication of the preparation was often rated as a side project of the wave: earth ball musician. The publication received very different reviews. Dance with Your Feeling has been given positive, average, and negative reviews. Following the release, the group toured Germany-wide.

After internal disputes, Malecki left the project in 2005 to concentrate more on his own projects. Due to the burgeoning success, the label Scanner became aware of Das Preparat and signed the band. In 2007 the first album THX LD50 was released . The release received less reviews than the maxi release, meanwhile the album was given a higher degree of independence in the electro spectrum. Occasionally the album was viewed critically. The singing in particular was described as "annoying and overwhelming".

In 2010 the concept album Unschuldsblicke followed , which deals with the topic of sexual abuse of children . The album was mostly positively discussed and described as a “musically varied album with disturbing content”, only the vocals were criticized. Glances of innocence is considered to be more complex and varied compared to the previous publications. The music can no longer be reduced to the electro spectrum and also takes up elements of dark cabaret . The danceability of the album was occasionally highlighted. Critical voices, on the other hand, criticized a discrepancy between the concept of the album and the musical preparation and judged it as "too trying, too broadly trimmed for actual goose bumps to develop as to the topic." One year after the release, night nurse K. the band that has been reduced to a one-man project. The album Unter 4 Augen followed in 2016 .

style

The first publications of the project were assigned to Minimal Electro and Electropop and were often compared with Welle: Erdball. The Internet magazine Terrorverlag draws the comparison "WELLE: ERDBALL meets BLUTENGEL " to describe the musical concept of the single release Tanz mit Your Emotion . Later releases are mostly attributed to electro pop, synth pop and electro. The albums are characterized in particular by a high danceability, catchy rhythms and frequent samples as well as by "synth sounds, frequent use of classical instruments within the electronic overall structure and beats" of the electro of the early 1990s. The group used elements of the Dark Cabaret on later publications. Overall, comparisons are made to Das Ich , Calva Y Nada , Leather Strip and the early Project Pitchfork .
