The vital link: The story of Wilfrid Israel (English original title: The Essential Link: The Story of Wilfrid Israel) is a documentary by the Israeli director Yonatan Nir.

The film, which is inspired by Naomi Shepherd's book Wilfrid Israel , traces the life story of Wilfrid Israel. Israel was a wealthy Jewish businessman who owned Berlin's largest department store until it was expropriated in the late 1930s. He was a dedicated philanthropist . He was instrumental in rescuing tens of thousands of Jews as he played a key role in the Kindertransport rescue operation.

The film was produced by Highlight Films and premiered at the DocAviv International Film Festival 2017.

In 2012, Yonatan Nir (director), Noam Shalev (production) and Ophir and Ilan Baer (screenplay) published a 34-minute film documentary entitled Wilfrid Israel: Der Retter aus Berlin.
