Cocoa Corp. is a South Korean company that operates the search engine Daum, as well as a web portal with webmail , forum, shopping, news and webtoon services. The company is increasingly focusing on mobile services such as the KakaoTalk messenger .

In May 2014 the merger of Daum with KakaoTalk , the also South Korean manufacturer of a text messaging app , was announced, with KakaoTalk holding the larger share of the newly created company.

At the beginning of 2016, Kakao took over a controlling majority of 76.4% in LOEN Entertainment , which operates , among other things, the most popular music streaming service in South Korea, MelOn .

Kakao Bank , founded in 2016, went online in July 2017 and already had 2 million customers within a few weeks. It is the first exclusively online bank in South Korea.

Cocoa is traded on the Korea Exchange and is listed in the KOSPI .
