Dave Bruylandts

Dave Bruylandts (born July 12, 1976 in Lier ) is a Belgian racing cyclist .

Dave Bruylandts won the overall ranking of the Ronde van Antwerpen in 1998. In 1999 he became a professional with the Palmans-Ideal cycling team . In his first year he won the one-day races Nationale Sluitingsprijs and Leeuwse Pijl. The next year he switched to Farm Frites , where he did the Schynberg Tour , a stage at the Vuelta a Castilla y León , the Grand Prix Jef Scherens and two stages with an overall classification at the Circuito Montañés . In the 2002 season he was successful at the Grand Prix de Wallonie and on a section of the Route du Sud . In 2003 he then moved to Marlux-Wincor Nixdorf, where he won a stage each in the Burgos Tour and the Tour of Belgium . And he won the two one-day races, Giro d'Oro and Grand Prix de Wallonie.

In the 2004 Tour of Flanders , Bruylandts took third place behind Steffen Wesemann and Leif Hoste . Shortly thereafter, he tested positive for EPO and banned him for two years. In 2007 he finally ended his cycling career. Growth hormones, EPO and corticoids had already been found in him in March 2006. A Belgian court sentenced him to a three-year suspended sentence for this in 2009.
