David James Burrows (born January 11, 1949 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who was active during his playing career for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League .

Career

After Dave Burrows was active as a junior player for the Dixie Beehives and the St. Catharines Black Hawks , he went on the ice for the Dallas Black Hawks in the Central Hockey League in 1969 and immediately earned himself a regular place there. Burrows, who had never been drafted before, was selected on June 8, 1971 in the Intra-League Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins , previously the Chicago Black Hawks held his player rights. In his debut season, the defensive player came to 77 appearances for the Penguins in the regular season of the National Hockey League and scored twelve points. Although not very talented, he managed to advance to a defensive defensive player who was particularly convincing in one-on-one situations.

With the Penguins, however, he could never qualify for the finals of the Stanley Cup and was delivered to the Toronto Maple Leafs on June 14, 1978 , in exchange Randy Carlyle and George Ferguson went to Pittsburgh. Burrows was invited to an NHL All-Star Game three times during his career , where he represented once the team of the Western Conference All-Stars and twice the team of the Wales Conference All-Stars . After two years in Toronto, Burrows returned to the Penguins for a season and ended his active career in the summer of 1981.
