The 27th National Hockey League All-Star Game was played on January 29, 1974 in Chicago . The game took place at Chicago Stadium , home of the host Chicago Black Hawks . The Western Conference All-Stars beat the Eastern Conference in a high-class game 6: 4. The game saw 16,426 spectators. Garry Unger of the St. Louis Blues was named MVP .
