The 35th National Hockey League All-Star Game was played on February 8, 1983 in Hempstead near New York . The game took place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum , home of the New York Islanders host . The All-Stars of the Campbell Conference clearly beat those of the Prince of Wales Conference with 9: 3. The game saw 15,230 spectators. Wayne Gretzky of the Edmonton Oilers was named MVP .
