Davenport (England)

Davenport is a borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester , England . In 2011, according to the census, there were 14,924 inhabitants. Davenport station is on the railway line between Manchester Piccadilly station and Buxton . The station was opened on March 1, 1858, the route is now operated by Arriva Rail North and used by 200,000 to 300,000 passengers annually. The station and with it the place name go back to the Davenport family, who had lived here since the 14th century.
